As promised, here are some pictures from my little project studio. I’ve invested $3000 into this thing, which isn’t a lot compared to many of the more professional project studios out there. Take a look at some of the pictures, along with the captions. Interested in the quality of the recordings this studio can produce or the type of equipment I own? Visit this post here. Welcome to the first installment of a user-submitted contest on TheMusicBlogger.com. As you can see, we have quite a few contests running concurrently, but this is the first contest which involves users to submit their video for thousands of users to see. What is the Carly Comando Contest? This is a very simple contest. First, view the video of Carly Comando’s song “Everyday” by clicking here. It’s a very beautiful piece composed for a video depicting a guy taking pictures of himself “Everyday” for 6 years. The song can be described as a “magical” piece, yet not many people have the sheet music for it, which makes this contest so much more challenging. I want YOU to record yourself playing Carly Comando’s “Everyday” on video. Because the sheet music isn’t widely available, you’re going to have to either watch a tutorial on YouTube, or listen to the song and try to play it out by ear – it’s up to you. Please make sure you follow the rules below when recording:

So you’ve seen all the videos on YouTube of all kinds of people building channels showcasing their music. Many musicians have become famous and acknowledged by starting in online communities like YouTube, MySpace, and SoundClick. A good example would be an artist by the name of Passion. Through spreading his music online, he was invited, not long ago, to perform as the opening to Kanye West (I believe it was Kanye…). His music can be checked out here. I’ve been giving it some thought, and it really doesn’t take THAT much to start your music career online. Well, at least on YouTube anyway. Here’s a link to a video that me and Verne performed around a year ago. It’s not perfect, and there are some mistakes…but it’s all about learning from mistakes right?
Jan 1st, 2008 by Derrick Fung Hope everyone had a good New Years – I know I did. I spent this year downtown, at the City Hall of Toronto (by Nathan Phillips Square). I subwayed down with my friends, and got down there around 11:35pm – just in time for the countdown. Afterwards, headed over to my friend’s sister’s boyfriend’s condo, where we just lounged, and ordered some pizza. It was eventfull, nonetheless, and I’m excited for all the things 2008 has to bring. I’ve been doing some thinking, and I’ve come to the conclusion that one of my New Years resolutions for 2008 Continue reading Happy New Years!
